EasyRoutes Product Updates - March 2025

Since our last monthly update, we've been busy working on new and improved EasyRoutes features to streamline all of your route planning tasks. Here's a few of the highlights.

Your all-in-one local delivery app for Shopify

🏘️ Route Group Improvements

We've made a number of significant improvements to Route Groups, unlocking new functionality for users and streamlining many core tasks when planning routes as a group. To start, access your Route Options page and configure the How many routes? option to generate more than one route at a time.

Once a group is generated, you'll be taken to the All routes view (shown above) where you can access details for every route in the group, and quickly perform many key actions from one centralized location, including:

  • Edit route names and line/pin colours for any route in the table.
  • Set scheduled start dates/times for each route individually, or to the group as a whole.
  • Assign drivers or vehicles from your roster to any route in the group.
  • Dispatch one or more route(s) to their assigned driver(s).
  • View and print inventories, packing slips, or packing labels for all routes in the group at once.
  • Access the new timeline view (shown below) with all route locations, stops, breaks, and stop durations displayed across the actual time they're scheduled to take place:

Route Groups now support delivery zones, allowing users to take advantage of any saved zones used for visual planning when selecting or removing orders from routes.  Route planners can also use the Select orders map selection tool to quickly pick stops from existing route lines, and instantly re-optimize them into a new route within the current group.

The All routes view of any Route Group provides tools for quickly adding new orders to any of the routes within the group, or shifting stops from one route to another within the group.  Each group now also features an unrouted drop zone (highlighted below) where any stops can be dragged and dropped to remove them from their current route, but keep them within the group's Unrouted stops tab for further review, or addition to another route or group:

If you've never used Route Groups before, or just want to explore all the new ways to interact with this powerful feature, check out our Route Groups documentation, now with short video walkthroughs demonstrating all the ways Route Groups can help streamline your route planning workflows.

🧭 New Route Option: Speed Factor

We've added a new Route Option, allowing EasyRoutes users to configure the Speed factor that's applied to generated routes. Use this new tool to scale up or down the assumed speed at which drivers generally complete routes. This Route Option defaults to "normal" speed, but can scale down to 90% slower than normal, or scale up to 90% faster than normal.

For example, users who deliver routes via bicycle, where orders may be delivered consistently behind schedule, will see improved route duration and stop ETA values by using the Speed factor to scale the route's assumed speed to 10% slower, as shown above. This approach effectively includes 10% more drive time than "normal" between all stops.

For full details on increasing or decreasing your routes' drive times using EasyRoutes' Speed factor, see the support article for this new Route Option.

🚚 New Feature: Vehicle Profiles

EasyRoutes' new Vehicle Profiles feature allows users to save details about the vehicles used to complete routes, including vehicle types, makes, models, and fuel economy. Once configured, users can assign specific vehicles from any individual route's page:

Vehicle Profiles can also be used to sort and track key route metrics on a per-vehicle basis, using the new Vehicles filter to sort the Routes page, or to create custom Route Views for each vehicle type.  The Vehicles filter can also be applied to sort Analytics reports and break down delivery data by individual vehicle types.

For full details on adding and working with vehicle profiles, see the support article for this new feature.

🛍️ Orders Page Updates

We've made a number of changes and improvements to the EasyRoutes Orders Page, making it easier to display any order data that's important to your operations, and improving workflows for visual planning using our map selection tools.

From your EasyRoutes Orders page, access the Configure table columns button found on the right-hand side of the page in the section highlighted above, just below your map and active Route Options. Use the checkboxes to instantly update which data to display as columns within the orders table below.

You'll find shortcut buttons within the same panel to add a saved stop, import a new CSV spreadsheet, or refresh your orders table.  Use the tabs found here to navigate between Shopify-native orders, any stops saved to your Address Book, or to access a history of all orders imported via CSV upload.

We've also improved workflows for creating and interacting with delivery zones (shown above) when planning routes visually on the map.  Visual planning tools used to sort and select orders on the map, draw physical boundaries, and create saved delivery zones now feature improved behaviour and notifications when switching between modes and planning tools.  Saved delivery zones can now also be edited after creation to fine-tune their boundaries.

For full details on working with the map to plan routes visually, see the support articles for EasyRoutes' delivery zones and map selection tools.
